Great reasons why brands need to be active on Twitter - there's so much value in being able to interact with your customers and in being in front of your customers all the time. It looks like the brands that do jump in are having great success.

I really like the special consideration for tone. I'm considering what tone I want to use for our brand: @LotusJumpSEO

I think it'd be cool for the corporate brand to have a distinct personality...something that makes it less bland than your average bland customer support technician. Feel free to follow our brand on Twitter and provide suggestions! Thanks!

I have used Twitter to help promote already established brands, and launch new brands as well - and every time it has been very effective. I love Twitter and don't know how I lived so long without it!

Interesting post. Twitter just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. Branding yourself there would prove to be a wise business move.

True Carrie. 140 characters are never enough - but the limit makes one come up with small, punchy, no-fluff, and to-the-point tweets - all the more reason for the success of Twitter. We tried out Twitter for tweeting our hotel deals and found some good initial results (see my blogpost url ) The next step for us shd be customer service on twitter - a la Zappos - but would take some more time and commitment. Cheers!

I never guessed that Twitter could be such a wonderful marketing tool. I'll surely use Twitter to promote myself, my own website http://www.marketingpundit.com and all my 'children & youth marketing' activities.
Can you tell me the extent of penetration of Twitter in India?

I am really not a twitter fan not because any of the SEO or other benefits but just because I don't like the orignal concept. Its essentially a overhyped "status" section of facebook.
