I wish this truly was the inhouse linux that google runs, but it seems to be independent:

gOS is an independent operating system devoted to making Google Applications and other free, web software more widespread and accessible to the world. gOS is not affiliated with Google or their partners.

Google has a vision of cheap and network based operating systems. Computing is becoming less and less hardware and place oriented.

That is super cheap. I wouldn't expect to play games on it but for people who cannot afford 500$+ systems that is great. The cheaper systems become, the more the internet population will grow. Thats only a good thing for us marketers!

Hopefully in 3-5 years we will see a sub 100 $ model!

@Mike - there are probably a lot of people that would have only limited needs-basic email, internet, etc-which this computer would meet. :-)

A "Google" Computer for $199 - I will admit that the price is good, but is this product actually something consumers will buy? I am curious as to what the benefits are to having such a specialized, yet limited type of computer such as this one.
